Legislative session begins with a bill on lowering the long gun age<\/p>\n
HB 133 would allow people ages 18 and older to buy long guns. That would reverse a law, passed in 2018 after a mass shooting at Parkland\u2019s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, that increased the minimum age to 21.<\/p>\n
Florida doubles down on invalidating signatures for cannabis amendment<\/p>\n
The state Division of Elections website shows 675,000 valid signatures, though Smart & Safe Florida<\/a> said last week more than 1 million voters had signed petitions for the recreational pot proposal. There\u2019s a February 1st deadline for submitting at least 880,062 valid petition signatures to the state.<\/p>\n A Sunday vigil commemorating the 6-month anniversary of the death of a Tampa Bay business owner killed in the West Bank by Israeli settlers was interrupted by agitators shouting hate speech. WMNF\u2019s Chris Young reports.<\/p>\n Governor Ron DeSantis has made Florida social media laws a priority, and bills have been filed in the Senate and House. They address a variety of issues, such as establishing a \u201cright\u201d for parents to control children\u2019s interactions with artificial intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n Papers filed yesterday in Florida say the BBC will argue the court lacks jurisdiction and that President Trump failed to state a claim.
