Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Myers High School had 60% or more of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, with 40% or more of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam. The school offers 24 AP courses with 41 sections taught by 19 dedicated teachers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Advancing from Silver to Gold recognition on the AP Honor Roll is a testament to the exceptional dedication of our teachers and the outstanding achievements of our students,&#8221; said Fort Myers High School Principal Chris Engelhart. &#8220;This Gold distinction reflects Fort Myers High School&#8217;s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and our mission to prepare every student for success in college and beyond. Our Greenies continue to raise the bar, and I couldn&#8217;t be prouder of this accomplishment!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAP gives students opportunity to engage with college-level work, earn college credit and placement, and build professional career skills they can use no matter what path they choose after high school,\u201d said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. \u201cCongratulations to this year\u2019s AP School Honor Roll recipients for proving it\u2019s possible to expand participation in these rigorous courses and still drive strong performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fort Myers High School, home of the Greenies, is one of Lee County Public Schools&#8217; oldest and most distinguished institutions, serving students in grades 9-12. The school&#8217;s robust AP program is part of the district&#8217;s broader commitment to providing students with pathways to earn college credits while still in high school, saving families thousands of dollars in future tuition costs.<\/p>\n<p>College Board\u2019s Advanced Placement\u00ae Program (AP\u00ae) enables students to pursue college-level studies\u2014with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both\u2014while still in high school.
