PINELLAS COUNTY, FL \u2014 One person was killed and three injured after a driver slammed into a truck in an active construction zone Monday night on Interstate 275 along the Howard Frankland Bridge, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. <\/p>\n
A 37-year-old Georgia man driving a Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on I-275 around 10 p.m. when he failed to yield to construction workers at milepost 34. <\/p>\n
He drove into the work zone in a closed lane and hit a Ford F550, which was driven by a 45-year-old Tampa man, who was with the company Archer Western-Traylor Brothers JV and working in the construction zone, FHP said. <\/p>\n
Debris from the crash hit a third truck, a Nissan Titan, driven by an 18-year-old Largo man who was also heading south on I-275. <\/p>\n
The Georgia man died at the scene of the crash, FHP said. <\/p>\n
The Tampa man and two other construction workers in the Ford F550 were brought to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n
The Largo man was uninjured in the crash.<\/p>\n
