TAMPA, Fla.\u2014 The UTSA women\u2019s basketball team suffered a 70-53 defeat at the hands of South Florida in American Conference action on Tuesday at the Yuengling Center.<\/p>\n
The Roadrunners (8-7, 3-1 American) fell to the Bulls (11-7, 4-1 American) as USF used a stellar second quarter to take a big lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Emilia Dannebauer<\/a> logged a career-high 13 points in the effort on 5-for-6 shooting, while classmate Damara Allen<\/a> worked her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. \u00a0Senior Ereauna Hardaway<\/a> dished out eight assists, tying her personal best for the third time, and fellow senior Cheyenne Rowe<\/a> scored eight points and collected 10 rebounds. \u00a0<\/p>\n The \u2018Runners started hot, outscoring the opposition 11-3 across the first five minutes, with five points coming courtesy of Allen. USF came racing back with a 16-0 run, delivering a 19-11 lead. Hardaway sank a last-second shot before the period concluded with the Bulls up, 19-13.<\/p>\n USF\u2019s success continued into the second as they grew a 37-16 edge, before taking a 49-24 lead into the locker room.<\/p>\n Looking to spark a comeback, the Roadrunners scored 12 of the first 16 points in the third, trimming the deficit to 17.
