TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – It had been ten years since the Tallahassee State women\u2019s basketball program had won their conference home opener, and it\u2019d been seven years since the Lady Eagles had beaten an opponent ranked in the top ten. <\/p>\n
You can reset both of those marks though, because on Saturday, TSC won their home conference opener over second ranked, and defending national champion, Northwest Florida State.<\/p>\n
For first year head coach Chelsea Waters, it\u2019s an exciting win, but she\u2019ll be the first to tell you, the job isn\u2019t done. That win was just game one of Panhandle Conference play for TSC, there\u2019s a long season ahead, but the win is a definite confidence boost. <\/p>\n
This team has already proved a lot of people wrong, as they have two wins over ranked opponents this season, and now they\u2019re ready for what\u2019s ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery game that we\u2019re about to play in Conference is going to be that much more. The stakes are even higher, right?\u201d said Waters Tuesday. \u201cIt\u2019s about getting the girls to focus and lock in and understand that just one win against number two isn\u2019t good enough. We have to keep doing what we\u2019re doing and continue to level up. To keep that confidence like you mentioned, to keep them playing with that chip on their shoulder is going to help us even more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pensacola State is up next for the Lady Eagles. Tip off is at 5:15 Wednesday night in Pensacola. The Tallahassee men, who are ranked 10th in the country, will play after.<\/p>\n
