TAVARES, Fla. \u2013 A mother accused of torturing her 10-year-old son<\/a> to death in February 2025 is expected to change her plea in the case.<\/p>\n

Kimberley Mills, along with her boyfriend Andre Walker, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges in the death of Xavier Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both Mills and Walker face the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.<\/p>\n

A change of plea hearing is set for Wednesday. Mills could either change her plea to guilty or no contest.<\/p>\n

Mills and Walker were arrested in February after the two took Xavier to the hospital, police said.<\/p>\n

Investigators later revealed that they believed the couple left the hospital to go back to their home and do a \u201chasty cleanup.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to detectives, Mills later returned with the boy\u2019s younger brother, who told investigators about how \u201che and his older brother suffered unspeakable torment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per investigators, a search of the home yielded a ladder, a 10-pound weight, and duct tape \u2014 items used to restrain the 10-year-old with his hands above his head while the weight was intentionally dropped onto his exposed torso.<\/p>\n

The couple was originally arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated child abuse, after investigators said there was clear evidence in the case, including a ladder, a 10-pound weight, and duct tape they say was used to torment the boy and his younger brother.<\/p>\n

Terms of the change of plea from Mills have not been announced and it\u2019s unclear if she would testify against Walker.<\/p>\n
