NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – A North Fort Myers man pleaded guilty to several serious charges on Wednesday, according to the United States Attorney’s office.<\/p>\n

Jesse Korff faced charges including possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of unregistered silencers and a destructive device, and attempted malicious use of an explosive. He could be sentenced to a maximum of 45 years in federal prison.<\/p>\n

Last May, Fort Myers Police responded to a 911 hang-up call at a residence and discovered a hostage situation<\/a>. Officers detained Korff after a scuffle with a woman, during which a firearm and silencer were found.<\/p>\n

The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office Bomb Squad removed a pipe bomb from Korff’s pocket using a robot. Testing confirmed attempts to detonate the device. Additional weapons and bomb-making materials were found in Korff’s vehicle and residence.<\/p>\n

Korff, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. His past convictions include transfer and possession of a toxin for use as a weapon and conspiracy to harm individuals abroad.<\/p>\n

The investigation involved Fort Myers Police, LCSO, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan is prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n
