The Texas-based travel center chain, which has a cult-like following for its unique snacks, fudge, brikset sandwich counter, and plethora of gas pumps, plans to open what would become the world’s largest convenience store in Fort Pierce, cementing the state’s growing status as prime territory for the cult-favorite brand. If approved and built as planned, the massive new Buc-ee’s would open in 2027 and officially dethrone the chain’s current record-holder in Texas.

Therefore, the largest Buc-ee’s in America will be in Florida. I guess not everything is bigger in Texas.

The proposed Fort Pierce Buc-ee’s will span approximately 76,245 square feet, edging out the massive Luling, Texas, location that opened in 2024 at 75,593 square feet. The store would rise at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Indrio Road, northwest of Fort Pierce and southwest of Vero Beach, a strategic location along one of Florida’s busiest travel corridors.

The construction site of the upcoming Buc-ee’s in Fort Pierce, Florida

Screenshot via Instagram/@bluealertus

What to Expect at the Giant Florida Buc-ee’s

True to Buc-ee’s larger-than-life reputation, the Fort Pierce outpost is designed to be a highway oasis on an epic scale. Plans call for 120 gas pumps, 18 electric vehicle charging stations, and more than 700 parking spaces (specifically, 778), accommodating a range of people from road-tripping families to commercial drivers.

Inside, customers can expect Buc-ee’s signature spotless restrooms and sprawling aisles stocked with the chain’s beloved snacks, including house-made beef jerky, fresh fudge, and brisket sandwiches, alongside home décor, clothing, and grilling supplies. Photos shared on social media show the site has already broken ground. T

This Will Be the Fourth Buc-ee’s in Florida

The company resubmitted the site plans and a building permit to St. Lucie County in November, following state approval for the project in April. Final approval is still pending and requires confirmation from utility providers, including approval for the installation of a grease trap. Local officials have expressed optimism about the economic impact, citing tourism draw and job creation, though specific employment or revenue numbers have not yet been released.

The Fort Pierce project would mark Buc-ee’s fourth Florida location, following the chain’s successful expansions into St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, and Ocala. Buc-ee’s first entered Florida in 2021, and each new opening has drawn massive crowds, traffic backups, and an undeniable buzz that has turned convenience store stops into full-fledged travel experiences.

The famous sandwich counter at a Buc-ee’s in Texas

According to a report from Sunland News, site plan approval is expected soon. Construction is projected to take 18 to 24 months, pointing to a likely opening in late 2027 or early 2028. Billboards advertising the upcoming Buc-ee’s began popping up near the site in late September, fueling excitement among locals and travelers alike.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s now operates more than 40 locations across the South and has built a fiercely loyal following by redefining what a convenience store can be. If all goes according to plan, Fort Pierce won’t just be getting a Buc-ee’s.
