A Republican candidate seeking to become Florida’s next governor says he wants a 50% “sin tax” on OnlyFans incomes.<\/p>\n
Gubernatorial hopeful James Fishback unveiled the idea during an interview on the conservative podcast NXR Studios, hosted by Joel Webbon.<\/p>\n
“As governor of Florida, in my first year I will push for the first tax of its kind \u2014 a 50% OnlyFans sin tax,” Fishback said.<\/p>\n
He added that if someone is an OnlyFans creator in Florida, \u201cyou are going to pay 50% to the state on whatever you supposedly earn through that online degeneracy platform.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fishback said the money collected through the tax would go toward education, crisis-pregnancy centers and mental-health initiatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat money will be used to fund our education system, fund crisis pregnancy centers, and fund a first-of-its-kind mental-health czar, particularly focused on men,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
During the interview, Fishback also explained why he refers to it as a \u201csin tax,\u201d saying that \u201cit is a sin, number one. But the purpose of a sin tax in economics is to disincentivize and deter a behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n
If elected governor and if the measure were to pass, Fishback estimated the tax could raise \u201chundreds of millions of dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a recent social-media post, he shared an estimate of $200 million, which was also promoted by another account supporting his campaign.<\/p>\n

The proposal drew swift criticism from creators, including Sophie Rain (Sophie Raiin on OnlyFans), especially after Fishback singled her out directly.<\/p>\n

Rain responded on X, writing: \u201cSounds like you subscribed and got buyer\u2019s remorse after dropping your annual salary on an OF girl.\u201d<\/p>\n
