TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – It\u2019s soccer season, and the Wakulla boys are gearing up for a deep postseason run.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, this is the best chance we\u2019ve had in a very long time,\u201d said senior Sam Bruce. \u201cI think we can make it to the state championship this year. We have a really good team.\u201d<\/p>\n
A big prediction from a guy who knows a thing or two, because he\u2019s seen a thing or two.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s one of those kids,\u201d said head coach Chad Linville. \u201cWhen he comes out, everything\u2019s there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bruce has played soccer at the varsity level since the ninth grade. He helped lead Wakulla to the Regional Finals his sophomore season, and this year, he wants more.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe made history sophomore year, and we\u2019re hoping to make history again.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope we\u2019re cresting at the right moment,\u201d added Linville. \u201cWe\u2019re coming into Districts. It\u2019s a good time. I\u2019m hopeful for him we can get a good ride.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ride number two, because Bruce has already been a part of the War Eagle football team this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey got in kind of a situation, they needed a kicker, Sam\u2019s got a good leg,\u201d said Linville.<\/p>\n
He still has his senior baseball season to look forward to as well, another sport he\u2019s played since his freshman year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I\u2019m doing good in baseball, I like baseball,\u201d laughed Bruce. \u201cIf soccer\u2019s going good, I like soccer.\u201d<\/p>\n
All of that, while balancing a 4.44 GPA as a dual enrolled student.<\/p>\n
\u201cLate nights you know, on my way to games, on the way back from games, got the assignments pulled up on my phone.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you have one like that, others do follow,\u201d said Linville. \u201cThat\u2019s a huge help for me, because I don\u2019t have to worry about all those other little things.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, the only thing to worry about is making this final ride on the soccer field a good one.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s awesome. We have a good group of guys,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve done well in the past. We know we can get there.\u201d<\/p>\n
And hopefully make a little more history before he goes. Bruce is in Wakulla\u2019s Medical Academy. He already has his CNA certification, and at the end of this semester, he\u2019ll be certified in phlebotomy. He said he wants to one day become an orthopedic surgeon.<\/p>\n
