Community Housing & Resources (CHR) announced that its board of directors recently elected four people to officer roles and welcomed two new members.<\/p>\n

The board leaders for the year are:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Erika Steiner, president<\/p>\n

\u2013 Bob Miller, vice president<\/p>\n

\u2013 Robert Monk, secretary<\/p>\n

\u2013 Clair Beckmann, treasurer<\/p>\n

Steiner, who also serves as vice chair of the Sanibel Planning Commission, applauded the dedication of previous officeholders President Roger Grogman and Treasurer Doug Babcock, who are retiring from the board, and Secretary Shelley Greggs, who remains a board member.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder their leadership, CHR made great strides in assuring affordable housing for those living and working on our islands, including raising funds and breaking ground on the new Riverview apartments,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful and inspired to carry their vision forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joining the board are Arlene Mowry and Pam Rosen.<\/p>\n

A native of Boston, graduate of Indiana State University and 10-year Sanibel resident, Mowry is a retired teacher and fitness business owner. She was a founding member of the Laconia Educational Endowment Foundation, raising funds for learning opportunities for students and teachers. Since retiring to the island, Mowry has been a trustee at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium and volunteer in its store and a volunteer for other nonprofits and community events.<\/p>\n

Rosen and her husband fell in love with Captiva during a visit 13 years ago and they made it their permanent home in 2022. She is an active member of the community, serving as a board member and president of the Captiva Civic Association and member of the 100+ Women Who Care Sanibel-Captiva, under the Charitable Foundation of the Islands. Rosen cited the crucial need for affordable housing as a motivation for joining the CHR board.<\/p>\n

\u201cCHR is blessed with passionate leaders who embrace our vision and strive to make it real every day,\u201d Executive Director Nicole McHale said.<\/p>\n
