{"id":120012,"date":"2026-01-16T02:27:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T02:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/120012\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T02:27:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T02:27:07","slug":"new-fort-pierce-commissioner-chris-dzadovsky-focusing-on-smart-growth-for-expanding-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/120012\/","title":{"rendered":"New Fort Pierce commissioner Chris Dzadovsky focusing on smart growth for expanding city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">WPTV&#8217;s Tyler Hatfield sat down Thursday with Fort Pierce&#8217;s newest commissioner Chris Dzadovsky who promises smart growth to balance development with small-town character.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WATCH BELOW:  &#8216;The future growth of Fort Pierce, it&#8217;s going to come,&#8217;  Chris Dzadovsky tells WPTV&#8217;s Tyler Hatfield<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For resident Genoveba Duran, the city has changed from when she moved here 40 years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen I came here, this looked like a little town,\u201d said Duran. \u201cNow it&#8217;s so big, the city grew up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">With all this growth, Duran said she hopes the city can generate more jobs for the community. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Another resident named Lizbeth said she had concerns about growth on her mind too. Specifically, for developments like the proposed Causeway Cove, which includes a 17-story building. Lizbeth said she\u2019s worried it will add more traffic heading in and out of Hutchinson Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Politics<\/p>\n<p>Dzadovsky wins Fort Pierce seat by 31 votes, flips commission<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI\u2019m kinda afraid about the amount of population that would come with that big development,\u201d said Lizbeth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Tuesday, Chris Dzadovsky <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/region-st-lucie-county\/fort-pierce\/chris-dzadovsky-wins-fort-pierce-commission-seat-by-31-votes-flips-control-to-democrats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">narrowly won the runoff election<\/a> for the District 2 seat on the city commission, beating candidate Jamiebeth Galinis by only 31 votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hatfield brought Duran\u2019s and Lizbeth&#8217;s concerns about growth to Dzadovsky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe future growth of Fort Pierce, it&#8217;s going to come,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Growth will come, but Dzadovsky said he\u2019s focused on smart growth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMaintain that small-town atmosphere, but we still need to bring the jobs, those investments, to increase the tax base from that commercial side,&#8221; he said, &#8220;but create the jobs necessary for those folks in Fort Pierce.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Dzadovsky wants to bring more businesses downtown and make it easier for them to set up shop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf people want to invest their business here, they need to know that they can get through the system without much hassle,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Make sure that their investment is worthy and profitable to build business and jobs.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Dzadovsky will be sworn in as city commissioner for District 2 on Feb. 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 Scripps Media, Inc.
