An investigation is underway after police said a man tried to stab a woman, whose 8-year-old daughter was also injured in the attack in Fort Lauderdale.<\/p>\n
Tracey Linnen said he was out of town celebrating his birthday when his daughter, Precious, and his granddaughter, Aubrey, were attacked.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s been a nightmare. They didn\u2019t want to tell me until I got home,” he said. “…We were on a cruise, and we just got back today. We didn\u2019t know any of this was happening until we got home.”<\/p>\n
When he returned, both his daughter and granddaughter were in the hospital. <\/p>\n
Linnen said it all started when his daughter and her husband got into a physical fight outside of their home. Precious was knocked unconscious, he said, and when her husband threatened to stab her, her 8-year-old daughter stepped in to help.<\/p>\n
“He was coming down with the knife, and the baby snatched it. She got cut open \u2014 down to the bone. She saved her,” Linnen said.<\/p>\n
The Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested 30-year-old Daquan Delancy. He faces several serious charges, including attempted murder and aggravated child abuse.<\/p>\n
“We tried to make him part of the family,” Linnen said. “Sometimes it ends up being something you wish you never did.”<\/p>\n
Precious and Aubrey were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated. The family says both are recovering.<\/p>\n
