To the editor:<\/p>\n
2,500 luminaries covered the streets of Matlacha making the 40th year a truly memorable Christmas event! A 7-foot Christmas tree was added to enhance the evening\u2019s celebration of the lighting of the luminaries. In addition to celebrating luminaries, Matlacha had an exceptional year with no hurricanes!<\/p>\n
Special thanks for the appreciated volunteer \u201cElves\u201d who solicited, assembled and distributed the luminaries. This is a neighborhood event and many homes contributed with their holiday lights, an added feature that expanded our motto, \u201cLet\u2019s Light Up Matlacha.\u201d<\/p>\n
The weather was perfect and neighbors enjoyed an evening of the never-ending, warm glow of the luminaries on Matlacha\u2019s streets and the added attraction of the Christmas tree that provided additional colorful lighting on Island Avenue.<\/p>\n
Special thank you appreciations extended to John and Cheryl Honc for their generous donation of sand and to Mr. Green for the use of his lot.<\/p>\n
This 40th anniversary of Matlacha\u2019s luminaries was the best ever! The luminary committee give thanks to ALL that had contributed to this year\u2019s special anniversary.<\/p>\n
