(WCTV\/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) &#8211; The House passed a bill Thursday renewing efforts to repeal Florida\u2019s so-called Free Kill law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The bill removes a loophole in Florida\u2019s medical practice law, preventing adult children of a medical malpractice victim who was single from suing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The measure passed during the last session, but Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed it as the healthcare industry fought it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">Florida Politics<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Families say the issue is about justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think it would be restoring a right that has been taken away for way too long for so many years and that has deprived the people of their fair access to the courts,\u201d said Sabrina Davis, whose father died due to malpractice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Florida is the only state that bans some people from suing for wrongful death in malpractice cases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The renewed effort to repeal Florida\u2019s Free Kill law is now in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WCTV.
