PORT ST. LUCIE \u2013 A 38-year-old man was arrested by Port St. Lucie Police officers on Jan. 13 for impersonating a police officer while intoxicated, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southwest Aster Lane in Port St. Lucie at about 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 after a 911 caller reported being pulled over by a white Cadillac whose driver claimed to be an off-duty police officer.<\/p>\n
Officers arrived on scene and observed flashing white lights coming from the Cadillac as it was positioned behind another car. During the investigation, officers determined that Beyzer was not a law enforcement officer, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Officers noticed that Beyzer activated white strobe lights mounted inside his vehicle and displayed a badge while talking with the occupants of the other vehicle.<\/p>\n
Officers also noticed that Beyzer was impaired while operating his vehicle.<\/p>\n
A DUI investigation was conducted, including standardized field sobriety exercises and a lawful breath test, according to police reports. The results showed that Beyzer\u2019s breath alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
In addition to the lights, officers also found a badge, handcuffs, a gun and an open container of alcohol inside the car driven by Beyzer.<\/p>\n
Beyzer is being held in the St. Lucie County Jail on a $3,000 bond as of Jan. 15, charged with impersonating an officer, which is a felony, and DUI, according to jail records.<\/p>\n
Anyone who is uncertain whether a person is attempting to stop or detain them is a legitimate law enforcement officer should call 911 immediately to verify the stop or request a supervisor, Port St. Lucie Police say.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PORT ST.
