The cost to get into Hard Rock Stadium — home of the Miami Hurricanes — is trending toward the highest ever for a college football game. Several factors contribute to the high demand on the secondary market. (The majority of game tickets are allocated to the two participating schools and are originally sold directly through each institution.)

Indiana has had a remarkable turnaround from being the worst college football team in America for decades to a championship contender in two short years under coach Curt Cignetti. It has never played in the national championship game. Also, the university notes it has the largest living alumni community in the country, with 805,000 Hoosiers around the world.

This is the first time a college football national championship game will be played on a participating team’s home field. The Hurricanes averaged 63,834 fans per game during the regular season.

According to Vivid Seats’ Fan Forecast as of Wednesday morning, Indiana and Miami fans will each make up half the crowd, ESPN reported.

So, there’s plenty of intrigue for Monday night’s game. But is it worth shelling out a few grand to be there?
