Malachi Marshall<\/p>\n
Iowa Western QB Malachi Marshall, a product of South Pointe High in Rock Hill, made an official visit to Florida State over the weekend. After seeing what the Seminoles have to offer, and hearing from them that there\u2019s an opportunity to compete for the starting job from the jump, Marshall decided there was no reason to carry on his recruiting any further and committed on the spot. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe people in the building really showed me a lot of love,\u201d Marshall said.\u00a0 \u201cIt was great.\u00a0 I can\u2019t lie.\u00a0 It was probably the best visit I\u2019ve ever been on.\u00a0 Everything was right for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Marshall had visited South Carolina the previous week and was offered by Shane Beamer and Kendall Briles with the understanding that he would redshirt his first season if he chose the Gamecocks. After that visit, Marshall said he was excited about that opportunity and redshirting would not be a problem. But the chance to play right away in the Florida State system trumped that. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey just told me to be the best version of me and come to play every day and see what happens,\u201d Marshall said.\u00a0 \u201cIf everything goes how I want it to go, it\u2019s a possibility. \u201cIf you look at the film, we run the same offense. My scheme that we ran at Iowa Western really prepared me in a way, because I won\u2019t be getting there until the summer.\u00a0 It\u2019s given me a step up because it\u2019s really not going to be a total difference for me.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to be different verbiage, so get that down pat and just play ball.\u201d<\/p>\n
Play ball is just what Marshall did this season in leading his team to the JUCO National Championship.
