LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A Pompano Beach truck driver has been arrested on a murder charge after he was initially stopped by St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies in connection with a report about a \u201csuspicious person.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to authorities, deputies responded to the area of South Rock Road, behind the Pilot Truck Stop in Ft. Pierce at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, after receiving a 911 call about a suspicious person in the area.<\/p>\n
Deputies said they arrived to the area and found Olson Jean, 41, of Pompano Beach, near a semi-truck that appeared to have went off the roadway into a ditch while trying to turn around.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the preliminary investigation, deputies observed blood inside the cab of the semi-truck near the passenger-side door, as well as blood on the exterior passenger-side area of the vehicle,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office stated in a post on social media. \u201cAn extensive area search was conducted as the investigation continued.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to deputies, they learned Jean was the owner and operator of the semi-truck and initially arrested him on a charge of resisting an officer without violence.<\/p>\n
He was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.<\/p>\n
According to the sheriff\u2019s office, due to information discovered during their investigation, a St. Lucie County detective arrested Jean on additional charges Saturday, including first-degree murder with a firearm and tampering with evidence in connection with the homicide of Wendy Moncion, 32, of Coconut Creek.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was a violent and senseless crime, and I want to commend the outstanding work of our Patrol Operations Bureau and Criminal Investigations Division for their relentless efforts in bringing this case forward,\u201d Sheriff Richard Del Toro, Jr. said in a statement. \u201cTheir dedication and professionalism ensured that the individual responsible is being held accountable. Let this serve as a clear message, violent crime will not be tolerated in St. Lucie County, and we will pursue justice for victims and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ms. Moncion during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to authorities, Jean remains incarcerated at the St. Lucie County Jail without bond.<\/p>\n
Further details about Moncion\u2019s death have not been released.<\/p>\n
