The next one will take place on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. with New York Times bestseller Liz Moore, author of \u201cThe God of the Woods\u201d and \u201cLong Bright River.\u201d She will discuss \u201cThe God of the Woods,\u201d an instant New York Times bestseller and one of NPR\u2019s 2024 \u201cBooks We Love\u201d highlights.<\/p>\n<p>Moore also authored \u201cThe Words of Every Song,\u201d \u201cHeft\u201d and \u201cThe Unseen World.\u201d A winner of the 2014 Rome Prize in Literature, she teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing at Temple University.<\/p>\n<p>To register for the author talk, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/libraryc.org\/sanlib\/upcoming\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/libraryc.org\/sanlib\/upcoming<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the library has the following programs scheduled:<\/p>\n<p>Preachers, Skeeters and More: Stories from a Rediscovered Sanibel &amp; Captiva will take place on Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to noon. For nearly a decade, documentary filmmaker Ken Sneeden has been chronicling the history of the islands for the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village and Captiva Island Historical Society. He will show brief excerpts from some of his documentaries and highlight some of the more interesting historical events that he uncovered along the way.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 21, R.E.A.D. to Rizzo will be held from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Youths will practice reading and reading out loud with Rizzo, a trained Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) therapy dog. Registration is required by contacting esherman@sanlib.org.<\/p>\n<p>Crafternoon Origami will take place on Jan. 21 from 3 to 4 p.m. Open to ages 5 and up, attendees will make cats, dogs, fish and more. A variety of origami paper will be available, along with examples and guidance.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 22, One Special Agent, Many Frontiers A Personal Journey Through High-Risk FBI Cases will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Join former FBI Special Agent Dennis T. Cosgrove for a behind-the-scenes look at some of the bureau\u2019s most unusual and high-stakes investigations that inspired his thriller novels. He will share personal stories from kidnapping and homicide cases to art theft, international operations, and groundbreaking cooperation with Russian counterparts in the 1990s. The program will blend photographs, case artifacts and true accounts from the front lines of law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Common Research Mistakes in Genealogy Research will take place on Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to noon. Lee County Library System Reference and Genealogy Librarian Bryan Mulcahy will guide attendees around some of the more obvious pitfalls of genealogical research.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 23, AI Made Easy: ChatGPT will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Attendees will learn how to enhance their life with ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>WEEKLY PROGRAMMING<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Crafternoon: Wednesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Make a fun and engaging craft with staff guidance. All supplies provided. Open to all ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Family Storytime: Fridays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Bring the whole family to enjoy stories, songs, movement and early literacy play centers that spark creativity and motor skills. Open to babies and toddlers and their caregivers.<\/p>\n<p>Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge.
