The Captiva Memorial Library, which is part of the Lee County Library System, is offering the following free programming:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Jan. 22: Love and Treachery: Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
King Edward VIII relinquished the English throne and left his country to marry Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee. Forbidden to enter England, they spent their lives in exile. Surely this is a love story for the ages, but was it? Did Wallis even like Edward? Was Edward a loyal Englishman? Close examination and new evidence reveals a different picture. Registration is required before Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Acclaimed novelist Liz Moore joins us for a virtual conversation about her New York Times bestseller, \u201cThe God of the Woods,\u201d one of NPR\u2019s \u201cBooks We Love\u201d of 2024. She is also the author of \u201cThe Words of Every Song,\u201d \u201cHeft,\u201d \u201cThe Unseen World\u201d and the New York Times bestseller \u201cLong Bright River.\u201d A winner of the 2014 Rome Prize in Literature, Moore teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing at Temple University. The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.<\/p>\n
