(WCTV\/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) &#8211; A House committee approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flhouse.gov\/Sections\/Bills\/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=83376&amp;SessionId=113\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.flhouse.gov\/Sections\/Bills\/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=83376&amp;SessionId=113\">legislation <\/a>that would expand the transgender care ban put in place three years ago, making it a third-degree felony for anyone who helps with banned prescriptions or procedures for minors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The bill would allow the attorney general to investigate and sue health care providers on behalf of patient parents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">Florida politics:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">People getting treatment before the ban was in place are grandfathered in and won\u2019t be affected by the change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Florida is among 20 states that have enacted laws restricting or banning treatment, even though it\u2019s been available in the United States for more than a decade and is endorsed by major medical associations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WCTV.
