The cult-favorite scoop shop, which won New Times‘ Best Ice Cream 2024, will open a new West Kendall location on January 26 at 15707 SW 56th St., followed by a South Kendall outpost opening early to mid-February at 12700 SW 122nd Ave.

The expansion marks a major milestone for the homegrown brand, which has built a loyal following thanks to its small-batch ice creams, gooey baked goods, and pop-culture-driven flavors that lean heavily into childhood nostalgia with a Miami twist.

Both Kendall locations will offer the full Cry Baby experience, including signature scoops, seasonal flavors, cookies, brownies, milkshakes, and ice cream sandwiches.

From Beer Floats to Ice Cream Fame

Cry Baby was born at Lincoln’s Beard Brewing Co., where ice cream-inspired desserts were originally created for beer-pairing dinners. Those early experiments included playful creations like fresh-fruit popsicle floats served in fruit-infused brews. What started as a fun dessert element eventually sparked something bigger.

When the former Sweet Melody Ice Cream space became available next door to Maxwell Bros. Clothing Store in Palmetto Bay, the opportunity felt right. The space was already built for ice cream, and Cry Baby Creamery officially took shape, transforming into a lounge-like dessert destination that felt anything but traditional.

From the beginning, Cry Baby Creamery set itself apart visually and conceptually. Designed with a speakeasy-meets–Las Vegas lounge aesthetic, the shop blends dark tones, bold pops of color, red leather banquettes, and playful branding anchored by the signature “cry baby” logo.

The menu followed the same philosophy: familiar flavors reimagined with personality. Everything is made in small batches using real ingredients, with a nostalgia-first approach that feels both comforting and inventive.

Cry Baby Creamery quickly became known for its standout flavors and rotating seasonal lineup.

The Flavors That Made Cry Baby a Cult Favorite

Cry Baby Creamery quickly became known for its standout flavors and rotating seasonal lineup.

Signature scoops include “Viva Pastelito” with cream cheese and mascarpone ice cream mixed with guava swirls and caramelized puff pastry; “Bean to Cone” with Ecuadorian milk chocolate ice cream and dark chocolate flakes; “Espumita Boss” featuring Per’la Coffee cold brew ice cream; and “Party Animal” with green vanilla ice cream, homemade vanilla frosting, dye-free rainbow sprinkles, and frosted animal crackers.

Winter flavors, available through February, include “Flan Brulee” with caramelized sugar; “Cookies & Caramel” with vanilla caramel and Biscoff crumbs; and “Ooey Gooey” with cream cheese ice cream, mixed berry jam, and soft cake pieces.

The menu followed the same philosophy: familiar flavors reimagined with personality. The series kicks off with Giorgio Rapicavoli, followed by Eileen Andrade, and concludes with Niven Patel. The collaborative flavors will be available at all locations, including the new Kendall shops.

Cry Baby Creamery’s Kendall locations will feature seating for about 20 guests and maintain the brand’s signature cocktail-bar-meets-tattoo-parlor vibe. Hours will be Sunday through Thursday from noon to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m.

Cry Baby Creamery, West Kendall. 15707 SW 56th St., Miami; crybabycreamery.com.
