\u201cAm I going to sit here and pretend that I didn\u2019t know I was going to win it again? No. Of course, I knew I\u2019m MJF. I\u2019m going to keep winning this over and over and over again until I retire and enter the Hall of Fame,\u201d Friedman said.<\/p>\n
AEW started in 2019, and Friedman joined shortly after. He reflected on his time with the company and its growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re still in its infancy, whether people realize that or not. We\u2019re a baby. We\u2019re a seven-year-old company that\u2019s has pretty much monthly to bi-monthly 140,000 people buying our pay-per-views, which I think is why it\u2019s \u00e0 propos that I\u2019m the world champion because I\u2019ve done the same. I\u2019ve only been in this industry for exactly 10 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Friedman is known for his theatrics and loves the spotlight, one of the reasons he\u2019s been so successful.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople like somebody that can talk some smack and back it up and I can do both. In my industry, I feel I\u2019m genuinely the last of a dying breed. People are most certainly more concerned with what cool maneuver or insane dive can I do in my match to grab people\u2019s attention. I don\u2019t need to do all that. All I got to do is walk through the curtain, grab a microphone, and you\u2019re at the edge of your seat like this. I have too much it. It exhausts me sometimes how much it I have,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Friedman remembers going to a pro wrestling event and though his family thought it might have a far-fetched goal, he always believed.<\/p>\n
\u201cSean Michaels had won his world championship, and he had a pose and I was looking around and all these fans were going nuts and I just remember tugging on my dad\u2019s arm and looking down at me and me looking up and telling him this is I\u2019m supposed to do this. I just knew. And I was right. What was your dad\u2019s reaction? My dad laughed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
