TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – For the eighteenth straight year, young baseball players and their dads joined Tallahassee State College coach Bryan Henry on the diamond to learn some fundamentals of the game from some of the top baseball minds in our area.<\/p>\n
Former MLB catcher David Ross is also usually there, but he was in Chicago to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Cubs\u2019 World Series title.<\/p>\n
There was still plenty of current MLB and local college talent in attendance to make up for his loss.<\/p>\n
Coach Henry said that when he first started this camp, there were just seven sets of dads and kids. But on Saturday, there were close to 100.<\/p>\n
You could see lots of smiles to go along with plenty of hard work.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like each year these kids get more and more competitive,\u201d said Cole Ragans, a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals and played baseball North Florida Christian. \u201cIt\u2019s fun getting those dads to compete, you kind of bring out the competitive edge.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNorth Florida and the panhandle baseball talent is crazy. I think it\u2019s only getting better, too,\u201d said Tyler Holton, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers who played baseball for Lincoln High School and Florida State. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a lot of fun and a lot of good instruction out here that they\u2019re getting today and guys that have been in the big leagues, every position you can probably think of. I hope they realize how special this moment is as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
