Florida Attorney General James\u00a0Uthmeier\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0state\u00a0has uncovered\u00a0nearly 21,000\u00a0fraudulent petitions\u00a0submitted\u00a0by Smart & Safe Florida\u00a0in\u00a0an\u00a0attempt\u00a0to\u00a0gain the necessary signatures to place a recreational marijuana amendment on November\u2019s\u00a0ballot.\u00a0What\u2019s\u00a0more is\u00a0Uthmeier\u00a0stated\u00a0local election officials verified\u00a0approximately a\u00a0third of the fraudulent petitions that were sent to the state. As a\u00a0result,\u00a0the AG has opened 46 criminal investigations into the alleged fraudulent petitions, with four of those focused squarely on the Smart & Safe Florida PAC\u2019s operations.\u00a0\u00a0
\nBoca Raton\u2019s city council\u00a0approved a plan<\/a>\u00a0for the One Boca downtown development project\u00a0on Tuesday. The proposed plan calls for the redevelopment of\u00a0nearly\u00a030\u00a0acres\u00a0near West Palmetto Park Road and Dixie Highway.\u00a0The mixed-use development proposal calls for 765 rental units, 182\u00a0condos\u00a0(including workforce housing), commercial space, new government buildings, and a redesigned Memorial Park. The proposal now goes to\u00a0voters to decide on the March 10th\u00a0ballot referendum.\u00a0\u00a0
\nThere\u2019s\u00a0still no resolution to the law enforcement issues in Loxahatchee Groves. The Town, which has been in a standoff with PBSO over the\u00a0cost of services,\u00a0voted<\/a>\u00a0to continue to weigh\u00a0options\u00a0meaning that\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0continue without law enforcement services for now. At issue is an unpaid balance of\u00a0over\u00a0$113,000 and the ongoing cost of service which the town says is unaffordable.\u00a0\u00a0

\nGas prices\u00a0rose by nine cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently\u00a0$2.84<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>per gallon<\/a>.
