TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man arrested<\/a> about six months ago for sexually assaulting a Florida State University student has pleaded no contest to a lesser charge in a plea hearing on Wednesday, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

Treon Patrick Jr., 27, was sentenced to 67 months in prison and 5 years of sex offender probation, the documents reveal. He will also be declared a sex offender.<\/p>\n

The crime occurred overnight on June 29, 2025, when he followed the student and her friends from Recess at CollegeTown to her dorm in Magnolia Hall. <\/p>\n

Treon addressed the court during the Wednesday plea hearing. <\/p>\n

\u201cI apologize for my actions. I promise [to be] a better man, a better father to my kids. I\u2019m sorry for putting the family in this type of position,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

The mother of the 17-year-old victim also spoke during the hearing. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t take any pleasure in Mr. Patrick\u2019s incarceration. I wanna say to Treon Patrick: you\u2019re God\u2019s child. And based on your choices moving forward, there\u2019s nothing you can\u2019t do in a positive direction. I truly wish the best for you and hope you believe God has a divine plan for you as he does us all. So please learn and grow from this. The power is in your hands with what you do with your life moving forward and I pray it\u2019s filled with redemption and love.\u201d<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s father also spoke during the hearing, saying that his whole family has been affected by the crime. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou caused our family a lot of pain. I can\u2019t imagine what my daughter went through, but so you know she\u2019s been affected deeply in all aspects – physically, emotionally, spiritually,\u201d the father said.<\/p>\n

He also said that he appreciated Patrick\u2019s apology. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy you\u2019re gonna be removed from the community. I believe it\u2019s a fair sentence, a fair punishment, and we can only hope you\u2019ll learn from it,\u201d he said. \u201cYou are a father. I just want you to imagine if somebody did this to your daughter, how you would feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick took a plea deal and pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of sexual activity with a 16 or 17-year-old girl, according to court papers. <\/p>\n
