A night full of laughs to benefit the Cape Coral Police Department\u2019s Police Athletic League is set for this weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A Comedy Night to Benefit PAL, featuring nationally-touring comedian RC Smith takes place this Saturday night at the Lake Kennedy Community Center from 7 to 10 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition to the comedy show and a\u00a0catered dinner by Carrabba\u2019s Italian Grill, there will be a silent auction and a 50\/50 raffle, giving attendees additional chances to support the cause. PAL encourages the community to invite friends, family, and coworkers for a night of food, fun, and laughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is our second year presenting a comedy night,\u201d said CCPD Officer Coby Palmer. \u201cThe event went well last year and it\u2019s back by popular demand.\u00a0There are many silent auction items to bid on that include hotel stays, sports memorabilia and gift cards and much more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doors for the event open at 6:30, giving attendees a chance to grab a seat, mingle, and prepare for the show. Tickets are $25 each and include the dinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cJust by purchasing a ticket to comedy night you have already helped CCPD PAL as a portion of ticket sale proceeds go to our program,\u201d Palmer said. \u201cEnjoying time with family or friends and having a some good laughs are great bonding moments in a social atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Smith is a popular comedian, often performing around Southwest Florida and beyond. He has a positive reputation in the television and comedy industry, and served as a warm-up comic for \u201cThe Rachel Ray Show,\u201d and \u201cThe Chew\u201d on ABC. He has also been featured on \u201cGood Morning America,\u201d \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert,\u201d \u201cThe Tony Danza Show,\u201d \u201cWho Wants to be a Millionaire,\u201d and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cape Coral PAL involves using sports and engaging activities as conduits for fostering meaningful connections between police officers and youth in the community. Officials state PAL is dedicated to laying the groundwork for a future where mutual respect and understanding between law enforcement and community members are deeply entrenched.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cCCPD PAL\u2019s Mission Statement is \u2018Building healthy lifestyles and positive relationships between police officers and the youth of Cape Coral by connecting kids to programs and opportunities that exist in the community,’\u201d Palmer said.\u00a0\u201cAll proceeds help the kids in our program or adding additional kids by paying for their sports registration fees and any equipment they may need to be a part of the team they joined.\u00a0It\u2019s a positive program because it gives kids mentorship opportunities from coaches in the sports leagues which gives them confidence for all aspects of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
