(WCTV\/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) &#8211; A Senate committee moved a bill Wednesday that establishes rounding rules for cash transactions after the federal government stopped making pennies last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2026\/01074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2026\/01074\">bill specifies that rounding<\/a> will be needed to the nearest nickel or dime, depending on the actual transaction total.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">Florida politics:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are moving to a penniless economy, and this bill tries to provide some guidance that lets retailers know how to proceed,\u201d said Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Pensacola.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The changes would only apply when someone pays in cash.
