FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Chris Dzadovsky<\/a>, who won the District 2 Fort Pierce<\/a> City Commission seat by a razor-thin margin earlier this month, will be sworn into office during a ceremony on February 2.<\/p>\n

The City of Fort Pierce announced on Wednesday that Dzadovsky will be sworn-in Monday, Feb. 2, at 4:30 p.m. inside the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 100 North U.S. Highway 1, after securing the seat in a tight runoff on January 13, defeating Jaimebeth Galinis<\/a> by just 31 votes and earning 50.60% of the total ballots cast, according to results from the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The election followed months of uncertainty after former Commissioner James Taylor<\/a>resigned in 2025<\/a> following his arrest and subsequent felony charges. <\/p>\n

The special runoff marked a competitive finish to a race that extended into the new year after no candidate reached 50% during the first round of voting<\/a>. Dzadovsky, a longtime public servant who previously spent 16 years as a St. Lucie County Commissioner,<\/a> had led the field in the initial election with roughly 40% of the vote. <\/p>\n

His victory also shifted the balance of power on the Fort Pierce City Commission<\/a>, giving Democrats full control, according to the Florida Democratic Party<\/a>.<\/p>\n
