ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 A new exhibit that\u2019s opening at the Orlando Science Center (OSC) will let guests experience what it takes to live, work, and explore beyond Earth.<\/p>\n

\u201cMission: Astronaut\u201d will feature hands-on challenges and real NASA footage. Guests can train like an astronaut, experiment like a scientist, and imagine the future of space exploration, officials said.<\/p>\n

The exhibit features six immersive zones, with each activity connecting to core STEM principles in physics, biology, and engineering.<\/p>\n

Visitors will step into their first mission briefing in a zone called \u201cWelcome to Training,\u201d where fictional astronaut guides will highlight the essential skills for exploring the cosmos as a team. In the next segment, \u201cPrepare for Space,\u201d guests will learn the fundamentals of aerospace engineering with a hands-on simulation.<\/p>\n

The third zone, \u201cLiving in Space,\u201d allows guests to experience how difficult completing simple tasks can be when everything floats, including cooking. After working with microgravity, visitors can discover how research aboard the International Space Station plays a part in helping scientists learn more about Earth in the fourth area, \u201cScience in Space.\u201d<\/p>\n

The training continues in the fifth zone, \u201cSpace Operations,\u201d where guests become mission specialists and learn how to maintain spacecraft in the conditions of outer space. The last segment, \u201cThe Future of Space Exploration,\u201d visitors will design habitats for future astronauts to live on distant planets.<\/p>\n
