{"id":12748,"date":"2025-10-20T19:05:58","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T19:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/12748\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T19:05:58","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T19:05:58","slug":"man-arrested-after-shooting-near-jacksonville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/12748\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested after shooting near Jacksonville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) \u2014 Onslow County deputies responded to a shooting that occurred early Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Around 1:30 pm, deputies responded to a 911 call of someone having been shot near the intersection of Burgaw Highway and Holly Shelter Road, south of Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p>One person was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.<\/p>\n<p>43-year-old James Lewis Wells has been arrested in connection with the shooting, with help from the Pender County Sheriff\u2019s Office and North Carolina Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation remains active at this time.\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) \u2014 Onslow County deputies responded to a shooting that occurred early Sunday afternoon.
