\"\"Change is in the air for Brazilian-born bossa nova vocalist Daniela Soledade and her partner, guitarist, arranger and bandleader Nate Najar, St. Pete residents both. There\u2019s a new song out this week, \u201cBrasileira,\u201d which is more uptempo and pop and R&B-sounding than any of their previous music (shades of classic-era Sergio Mendes). Hear the rhythmic dance track at this Spotify link<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrasileira\u201d (translated from Portuguese, it means \u201ca woman of Brazil\u201d) is the first single from Soledade\u2019s next album, Space Age Bossa Nova, coming in April.<\/p>\n

She and Najar will introduce their all-new Amazon Soul band Friday in performance at Bayboro Brewing. Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert are at this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They call the show Carioca Nights. A Carioca, Soledade explains, is \u201ca person born in Rio de Janeiro \u2013 the Carioca lives life to the fullest, spending days at the beach and dancing samba late into the night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Walk this way to Largo<\/p>\n

Check out Close Enemies, the rock band playing Friday at Largo\u2019s Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo. The name may not be familiar, but the credits can\u2019t be denied: Tom Hamilton, Aerosmith\u2019s founding bassist (and co-writer on \u201cSweet Emotion\u201d and \u201cJanie\u2019s Got a Gun\u201d) is in the ranks, along with longtime Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan lead guitarist Peter Stroud, and drummer Tony Brock, a founding member of the Babys, that great, but short-lived, British pop\/rock band of the late \u201870s and early \u201880s.<\/p>\n

Take a load off, Fanny<\/p>\n

Friday brings The Weight Band to the Capitol Theatre. Guitarist Jim Weider actually played with The Band in the years after Robbie Robertson\u2019s departure, which makes this so much more than some tribute act. Here\u2019s our interview<\/a> with Weider from Tuesday\u2019s Catalyst.<\/p>\n

Gaelic Storm, the Irish\/Celtic band that appeared in the movie Titanic (they were playing at the \u201creal party\u201d in steerage, where Jack brought Rose to cut a rug) is at the Capitol Theatre tonight. Find tickets for the 8 p.m. show at this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Heavy duty \u201880s rockers Great White and Slaughter share the bill Friday at Ferg\u2019s Concert Pavilion. Truth in advertising: Great White\u2019s founding singer Jack Russell died in 2024; Slaughter\u2019s singer\/guitarist Mark Slaughter continues to front the band that bears his name. Sunday at 1 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall: The Barricade Boys, Great Britain\u2019s theatrically-inspired vocal quartet. All four performed on the West End (and elsewhere) in Les Miserables, and if you know that show, you understand why they call themselves Barricade Boys. This weekend, The Florida Orchestra performs Ravel\u2019s Daphnis et Chlo\u00e9: Suite No. 2, as well as the composer\u2019s Piano Concerto (the latter featuring soloist Georg Li). William Eddins conducts the program, which also includes The Sorcerer\u2019s Apprentice (Dukas) and The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan (Griffes). 8 p.m. Friday, Straz Center Morsani Hall; 8 p.m. Saturday, Mahaffey Theater; 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Ruth Eckerd Hall.
