Dallas Cowboys<\/a> legend Michael Irvin was at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday night to watch his Miami Hurricanes take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the national championship.<\/p>\n

Prior to kickoff for the national title game, Irvin encouraged Miami to play a “dirty” game. He wanted Mario Cristobal’s squad to impose its will in the trenches against an Indiana team that blew out Alabama and Oregon in the previous two rounds of the College Football Playoff.<\/p>\n

“They\u2019ve been blowing everybody out. So if this game gets late and it\u2019s close, they\u2019re going to start tightening up \u2014 and we\u2019re used to it. Make it a dirty game,” Irvin said.<\/a> “Make sure they know they played a team today. And understand this \u2014 this is your home. You never let anyone come into your home, especially in a championship game, and beat you.”<\/p>\n

Irvin got his wish. Well, sort of.<\/p>\n

Miami’s defense hit Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza all night long and put him in uncomfortable spots. That being said, the Hoosiers held the lead throughout the game.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes had a chance to win the national title at the end of regulation, but Carson Beck was intercepted by Jamari Sharpe<\/a> with under 50 seconds remaining. That incredible play put the game – and season – on ice for the Hoosiers.<\/p>\n

After the national championship game went final, Irvin stood on Miami’s sideline in disbelief.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Irvin, this photo of him<\/a> is bound to go viral.<\/p>\n

This loss has to be devastating for all the players, coaches, family members and alumni for Miami.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day though, Miami has an awful lot to be proud of this season. Despite falling to 6-2 in November, the locker room never gave up hope on its national title dreams.<\/p>\n
