Orlando, Fla. \u2014 From now through this Friday, Oct. 24, officials with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) will be collecting non-perishable food items to help federal workers who are struggling amid the government shutdown.<\/p>\n
The two drop-off locations are curbside at the Terminal C departure level and at Orlando Executive Airport\u2019s administrative offices on Rickenbacker Drive off E. Colonial.<\/p>\n
Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference,\u201d GOAA spokeswoman Angela Starke said.<\/p>\n
As of Monday morning, the collection at the main airport had mostly filled a box truck.<\/p>\n
Cedric Files became emotional after he was thanked for his rather substantial donation, which filled the back of his car.<\/p>\n
He said he was doing the \u201cLord\u2019s work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a small, small little bit on a bigger scale,\u201d he said. \u201cI just want to help out.\u201d<\/p>\n
The following, unopened items will be accepted:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Meals in a can<\/p>\n
\u2022 Dry milk, evaporated milk, soy milk<\/p>\n
\u2022 Oatmeal\/cereal<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canned meats, fish or poultry<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canned\/dry beans<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canned vegetables<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canned\/dry fruit<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canned soup<\/p>\n
\u2022 Pasta\/macaroni<\/p>\n
\u2022 Spaghetti sauce<\/p>\n
\u2022 Peanut butter<\/p>\n
\u2022 Rice or other grains<\/p>\n
\u2022 Nutritional drinks<\/p>\n
\u2022 Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner,<\/p>\n
deodorant, soap, feminine hygiene, etc.)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Baby supplies (food, diapers, wipes, etc.)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Cleaning supplies (laundry detergent, dish<\/p>\n
soap, paper towels, etc.)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Pet Supplies (wet\/dry food, treats, litter)<\/p>\n
