TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M women\u2019s basketball rode a big second half to a 68-63 win over Jackson State on Thursday night at the Al Lawson Center.<\/p>\n
The Rattles returned from halftime trailing by six points, but outscored the Tigers 23-12 in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference.<\/p>\n
With the win, Florida A&M improves to 4-2 in SWAC play. Head Coach Bridgette Gordon was pleased with her team\u2019s effort on \u201cWe Back Pat Night,\u201d which honored her former head coach, Pat Summitt.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so important to come out here and play the way we played, because that\u2019s what Pat stood for, the way that my ladies fought down the stretch,\u201d said Gordon. \u201cI lit a fire up underneath their butts, and you know I\u2019m not the one to cuss. But I thought we took our foot off the gas against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and I\u2019m still upset about that game. So I told them, \u2018We\u2019re not going to have another game like that.\u2019 So hey, it doesn\u2019t take skills, it doesn\u2019t take athleticism, it takes heart. So go win the game, and I let them go.\u201d<\/p>\n
