The Miami Hurricanes attempted to spoil the Indiana Hoosiers’ historic run to an undefeated season and national championship, but fell short in their home region, losing 27-21 at Hard Rock Stadium.<\/p>\n

Notable celebrities, superfans, and alumni of both colleges attended the game, including former “Shark Tank” star and NBA owner Mark Cuban and former Miami Hurricanes and Dallas Cowboys champion Michael Irvin. Of the two individuals, Irvin was highly visible at various Miami games throughout their CFP run and famously went viral with his belt highlights after wins.<\/p>\n

However, there wasn’t a belt in sight in Irvin’s hand after he was stunned by the Hurricanes’ loss. According to the three-time Super Bowl champion, the game’s result left him “depressed” afterward, and he didn’t want to see anyone or hang out with anyone.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the \u201cIt Is What It Is\u201d podcast hosted by hip-hop star Cam\u2019ron, Irvin shared his reaction and thoughts on the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an incredible week leading up to the game and then of course, you guys know what happened in the game,\u201d Irvin said<\/a>, adding that if Miami could\u2019ve controlled several special teams plays, it would\u2019ve been a different game.<\/p>\n

The former Super Bowl winner also suggested quarterback Carson Beck could’ve thrown the pass that got intercepted “a second sooner” or found Malachi Toney, who was open on the play.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was depressed after the game, I\u2019m not gonna lie. I was depressed. Everybody was calling me, saying, \u2018Let\u2019s go out and party.\u2019 I said, \u2018I ain\u2019t going nowhere,\u2019\u201d he told Cam\u2019ron.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019m trying to leave the stadium, all the Indiana fans, \u2018Mr. Irvin, I\u2019m a Cowboys fan, can we take a picture?\u2019\u201d he said, pausing before blurting out, \u2018Hell nah, I ain\u2019t taking a picture with y\u2019all.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver said after the game he went back to his hotel room and just went to sleep, as he was already exhausted from everything he’d done in the buildup to Monday’s CFP Championship Game.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t go anywhere. I didn’t do anything. I just went to sleep, and I tried to get past the depression of losing the game,” he said, adding that he was doing much better now.<\/p>\n

He credited Indiana for playing the better game and winning, though he joked about the age of some of their players.<\/p>\n

Irvin believes the future is bright for Miami due to its appearance under the spotlight in the CFP Championship Game. He indicated that all of the talent in Miami who might have transferred and potential recruits are likely to be more interested in playing for Mario Cristobal’s college team.<\/p>\n
