MIDDLEBURG, Fla. \u2013 Two Clay County deputies were injured Thursday night when they were attacked by multiple dogs while responding to a call on Foxtail Avenue in Middleburg, the Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n
According to CCSO, one deputy suffered significant but not life-threatening injuries, and another deputy suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n
Both are being treated at the hospital.<\/p>\n
According to the sheriff\u2019s office, the deputies were called to a residence on Foxtail Avenue on reports of a verbal disturbance and gunshots being heard. <\/p>\n
Upon arrival, deputies report hearing a woman yelling from inside an RV that was on the property. <\/p>\n

Deputies began approaching the RV when they were met by a woman and three large-breed dogs, the agency said. One of the dogs then began attacking one of the deputies. <\/p>\n
To avoid further injury, the sheriff\u2019s office said the deputy used his gun, which led to the dog being struck and killed. <\/p>\n
Officials said the woman then charged at deputies while making verbal threats, which prevented the deputy who was attacked from receiving the necessary medical aid. <\/p>\n
While arresting the woman, another deputy was bitten by the other dogs, causing minor injuries. <\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office said that Clay County Animal Services collected the dead dog for further testing. The other two dogs have been sheltered with family members, who are cooperating with CCAS. <\/p>\n
The Sheriff\u2019s Office said it was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community.<\/p>\n
The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
