TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Middle and high school students and their families gathered at Tallahassee State College Saturday to learn about scholarship opportunities that can help cover the cost of college.<\/p>\n
The Florida Lottery partnered with TSC to host a Mega Florida Bright Futures Initiative event aimed at making college more affordable and improving access to scholarship information for families across the Big Bend. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs we travel around the state, often we realize that a lot of folks don\u2019t know about the Bright Futures scholarship,\u201d said Florida Lottery Acting Secretary Reginald Dixon.<\/p>\n

The event focused on students in grades eight through 10, a critical stage for planning academic paths and scholarship eligibility.<\/p>\n
Tallahassee State College President Jim Murdaugh emphasized the importance of access to information for families navigating college costs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of options for students to help them afford college, and Bright Futures scholarships are an amazing opportunity,\u201d Murdaugh said.<\/p>\n
Representatives from the Florida Department of Education explained Bright Futures scholarship requirements, eligibility criteria and next steps for students and families.<\/p>\n
A Bright Futures ambassador and state leaders also spoke at the event, while parents were offered a dedicated space to ask questions and receive one-on-one assistance.<\/p>\n
