WESH 2\u2019S DAVID JONES IS LIVE ALONG COLONIAL ORLANDO, WHERE PROTESTERS HAVE GATHERED FOR A SECOND DAY IN A ROW. DAVID, WHAT ARE THEY SAYING? THEY\u2019RE SAYING THEY\u2019RE ANGRY. THEY\u2019RE FRUSTRATED, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THIS INCIDENT THAT TOOK PLACE IN MINNEAPOLIS THIS MORNING. AT LEAST A FEW HUNDRED PEOPLE OUT HERE ON COLONIAL THIS AFTERNOON, GOING INTO THE EVENING, MARCHING DOWN COLONIAL AGAIN. THEY\u2019RE ANGRY. THEY\u2019RE CALLING FOR ICE, IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT TO BE ABOLISHED. WE STARTED AT COLONIAL IN BOMBAY. THE CROWD AGAIN HAS STARTED MARCHING TOWARD MILLS. THE SHOOTING IN MINNEAPOLIS LED TO TODAY\u2019S ACTION. PROTESTERS, THOUGH, HAVE BEEN ANGRY FOR SOME TIME. THEY\u2019VE CALLED FOR LOCAL OFFICIALS TO STAND UP WITH THEM IN THEIR ANGER. THE ORLANDO POLICE DEPARTMENT IS OUT ON SCENE HERE. IT\u2019S BEEN A PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY. WE\u2019VE BEEN SPEAKING WITH PROTESTERS WHO SAY THE ESCALATING TENSION AND VIOLENCE TIED TO IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT HAS MADE THEM WARY ABOUT COMING OUT, WEARY ABOUT PROTESTING. BUT THEY SAY IT\u2019S STILL SO CRITICAL TO THEM TO SPEAK OUT WHEN THEY FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG. THEY HAVE BEEN IN LA, THEY\u2019VE BEEN IN IN D.C., THEY HAVE BEEN IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, THEY HAVE BEEN IN CHICAGO. THIS IS JUST PROBABLY THE MAYBE IT\u2019S THE MOST VIOLENT, MOST VIOLENT ONE. I WOULD SAY LAST NIGHT IF ANYBODY SAW THE NEWS, THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN MINNESOTA IN THAT COLD, COLD WEATHER THAT WENT OUT TO STAND UP FOR THEIR CITY. AND I THINK THAT\u2019S WHY I\u2019M HERE TODAY. IF THEY CAN GO STAND IN THAT COLD WEATHER, I CAN COME STAND OUT HERE WHEN IT\u2019S, I DON\u2019T KNOW, 75, 80 DEGREES. THIS PROTEST AGAIN STARTED ON ALL FOUR CORNERS OF BUMBY AND COLONIAL BEFORE PROTESTERS STARTED MARCHING. THERE ARE MANY PROTESTERS OUT HERE THIS EVENING AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HONKING THEIR HORNS. JUST SOMETHING TO BE AWARE OF. IF YOU DO PLAN ON HEADING OUT ON COLONIAL THIS EVENING. WE\u2019RE COVERING ORANGE COUNTY LIVE IN ORLANDO. DAVID JONES, WESH TWO NEWS. STATE LAWMAKER ANNA ESKAMANI RELEASED A STATEMENT ON THE LATEST SHOOTING IN MINNEAPOLIS, SAYING IN PART, WE DO NOT WANT ICE BRINGING THE SAME PLAYBOOK HERE INTO OUR COMMUNITIES. \n\t\t\t\t\t\tHundreds of people gathered in Orlando this afternoon, calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement following a recent shooting in Minneapolis.The protest began at Colonial and Bumby, with the crowd marching toward Mills. Protesters expressed their anger and called for local officials to stand with them.The Orlando Police Department was present, ensuring the assembly remained peaceful. Protesters shared their concerns about the escalating tension and violence associated with immigration enforcement, which has made them hesitant to protest, but they emphasized the importance of speaking out when they perceive something as wrong.”They have been in LA, they have been in DC. They have been in Charlotte, they have been in Chicago. This has been the most violent, I would say. And all those people in Minnesota coming out in that cold, cold city.
