Some 600 people in Panama received medical care as part of a project by the U.S. Embassy in that country.<\/p>\n

The U.S. medical teams went to Colon and Cocle in Panama last week as part of a new project by U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM<\/a>). The project is called Juntos por La Solud, or Together for Health, said a news release<\/a> from the U.S. Embassy in Panama.<\/p>\n

The initiative is part of expanding security cooperation between the U.S. and Panama. President Donald Trump launched the American First Global Health Strategy<\/a> with the objective of advancing health and well-being in regional nations.<\/p>\n

Entomologists including an infectious disease specialist, a veterinarian and a preventive medicine technician are working at the Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colon. Meanwhile, another 17 doctors are providing inpatient assistance\u00a0 in Cocle at the Aquilino Tejeira Hospital. Those physicians are helping in health care areas including obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology and family medicine.<\/p>\n

U.S. Ambassador to Panama Kevin Marino Cabrera<\/a>\u00a0said the initiative is truly a joint effort with Panamanians.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew U.S. medical teams in Col\u00f3n and Cocl\u00e9 are delivering care to over 600 Panamanians this week\u00a0\u2013 working\u00a0hand-in-hand\u00a0with counterparts at Amador Guerrero and Aquilino Tejeira Hospitals in specialties including infectious disease, cardiology, and OB\/GYN,\u201d Cabrera said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder President Trump\u2019s America First Global Health Strategy, we provide direct, efficient support \u2014 no bloated NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) or middlemen. In 2026, per Panama\u2019s Ministry of Health request, we will cover all ten provinces and the Ng\u00e4be-Bugl\u00e9 comarca, serving more than 10,000 patients nationwide.\u00a0\u00a0This delivers measurable results and strengthens our shared security and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabrera added the aid was provided at the request of Panama\u2019s Ministry of Health. SOUTHCOM\u2019s objective is to increasing the support this year to reach the provinces includes a territory that is self-governed by indigenous people along the coast of the Gulf of America.<\/p>\n
