Toy manufacturing giant Mattel Inc. has filed plans in Orlando to build the first of five planned indoor water parks across the country.<\/p>\n

The parks will integrate well known Mattel products, including Barbie and Hot Wheels, across attractions ranging from lazy rivers and wave pools to waterslides, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

Kimley-Horn, an engineering and design firm, filed a pre-application permit for the project on behalf of Mattel for an 11-acre site in Orange County, according to Fox 35 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In November, Mattel announced a series of \u201cexperiential aquatic destinations to create a new form of entertainment featuring Mattel\u2019s beloved brands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks will encompass many iconic Mattel brands that span generations of play, offering innovative water-based attractions and amenities in a dynamic new format for Mattel,\u201d said Julie Freeland, the company\u2019s vice president of global location-based entertainment.<\/p>\n

The parks will be developed in partnership with aquatic design firm Martin Aquatic, waterpark management firm American Resort Management, and in collaboration with developer I-dentity Group, according to the release.<\/p>\n

Other projects in Martin Aquatic\u2019s portfolio include Royal Caribbean\u2019s Perfect Day at CocoCay, Universal Orlando\u2019s Volcano Bay and The Ritz-Carlton Naples.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlending our innovative experiential design with Mattel\u2019s family of brands is a dream come true,\u201d Josh Martin, president and creative director of Martin Aquatic, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to inspiring that same sense of wonder for kids and adults alike as they cross the threshold into each Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark.\u201d<\/p>\n
