Top-ranked Florida gymnastics (5-0, 2-0) stayed perfect on the road against the No. 11 Auburn Tigers<\/a> on Friday night, winning the meet, 197.1-196.7.<\/p>\n

The first rotation saw Florida on the uneven bars, where the Gators<\/a> tied the national season high of 49.625 behind Riley McCusker’s near-perfect 9.975 score. Skye Blakely, Selen Harris-Miranda and Anya Pilgrim all added 9.925s as well. Auburn scored a 49.175 on vault in the first rotation, putting the Tigers 0.45 points behind the Gators.<\/p>\n

Auburn took the lead during the second rotation as the two teams switched apparatuses and Florida scored a 48.600 on vault. Unfortunately, the Gators saw standout sophomore Ly Bui suffer a right-leg injury and were forced to count a fall in the rotation for the first time since 2009. Team doctors will evaluate Bui and determine how long she will be out, if at all. The Tigers scored a 49.125 on uneven bars, giving them a 0.075 advantage.<\/p>\n

The Gators bounced back with a 49.425 on floor exercise, which is tied for the season high. Blakley posted a collegiate best 9.925, while everyone else added 9.875s. Auburn only put up 49.100 on balance beam, putting Florida back in front by 0.25 going into the final rotation.<\/p>\n

Florida sealed the win with a 49.45 on balance beam, while Auburn posted a 49.3 on floor exercise. Three different Gators posted 9.90s or better, including Harris-Miranda’s 9.95 to win a third consecutive balance beam title. eMjae Frazier matched he season high of 9.925, and Blakely set a new collegiate best of 9.90.<\/p>\n

“This team showed a lot of fight, a lot of grit and a lot of growth today,” head coach Jenny Rowland said. “We started off extremely strong today, and that’s something that we’ve been talking about this whole week is starting our first event strong and continuing through our second event. Vault was not what we do. It isn’t it’s not how we execute. And you know what? We’re not going to be perfect and we’re going to have mistakes. Our last two vaulters definitely did a great reset for this team.”<\/p>\n
