FORT MYERS, Fla. \u2014 Middle Tennessee State concluded a two-match weekend in Fort Myers with a split result, achieving a 6\u20131 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday and suffering a 7\u20130 defeat to Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Blue Raiders started the weekend strongly against Florida A&M, winning all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Sophomore Sara Conde<\/a> and freshman Zora Koenig<\/a> led with a 6\u20132 victory at No. 1, followed by wins from junior Lena Peyer<\/a> and senior Zenn Lim<\/a>, as well as freshman Sthefany Lima<\/a> and senior Rutuja Chaphalkar<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Middle Tennessee maintained this momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Chaphalkar, Lima, Koenig, Lim, and Conde all recorded straight-set victories, allowing the team to clinch the match early. Florida A&M’s sole point came at No. 6 singles, where Luiza Edelwein defeated senior Karen Yibirin<\/a> in a third-set super tiebreak.\u00a0<\/p>\n On Sunday, Middle Tennessee showed competitiveness across the lineup, with several singles matches extending to three sets, notably featuring tight contests from Koenig, Lim, and Conde.
