(WFLA) \u2014 More information has been released in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/man-found-dead-car-another-003443827.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:shooting that occurred in St. Petersburg;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shooting that occurred in St. Petersburg<\/a> on Friday after police found one man dead inside a vehicle and another injured nearby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, at about 6:30 p.m., Syltico Morand and another man were armed and attempting to rob two men parked in a vehicle on 22nd Lane South.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police said the two men in the other vehicle were also armed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A confrontation ensued, and Morand and the man he was with were both shot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police said Morand died at the scene. Another 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers who responded to the scene said they detained two men and found multiple firearms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Evidence gathered in a preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was done in self-defense, but an investigation is still underway, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
