BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA \u2013 The Eastern Florida State College men\u2019s golf team will open the spring season Monday at the Titan Winter Invitational at Suntree Country Club.<\/p>\n

The field will be strong, with Central Alabama, Wallace State, and Eastern Florida State College in the tournament and coming off a national tournament appearance. NJCAA Division II National Champion, Mississippi Gulf Coast, will also be at Suntree Country Club, along with Murray State.<\/p>\n

Keiser University, which finished fourth in the NAIA National Championships last season alongside Southeastern University, Webber International University, and Palm Beach State College, is among the 13 teams in the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good one, a little deeper field than usual. We have a good field, should be tight competition, but you can\u2019t sit around and look at the board, we have to take care of our business,\u201d Eastern Florida State College men\u2019s golf coach Jamie Howell said.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s golf team finished 19th overall in the national tournament last season and had a strong fall season, winning the Kaiser Seahawk Shootout and finishing second in three other tournaments.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a rough start to the spring because the weather has been so bad, it\u2019s winter, and we have played like the weather; we struggled,\u201d Howell said. \u201cBut things have gotten better this week as the weather has calmed down. Hopefully, we get some decent weather and can keep things going.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Titans Winter Invitational will have a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. Monday on the Classic Course for the first round, with the second round scheduled for Monday afternoon. The final round will be held on Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m.<\/p>\n
