{"id":132425,"date":"2026-01-26T18:16:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T18:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/132425\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T18:16:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T18:16:13","slug":"boxers-death-remains-under-investigation-after-body-found-in-broward-canal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/132425\/","title":{"rendered":"Boxer\u2019s death remains under investigation after body found in Broward canal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 The investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man in Broward County continued on Monday, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Jonathan Scibica, a boxer at Level Up Boxing and Fitness, vanished after leaving the Cheers Restaurant and Bar, at 941 E Cypress Creek Road, at about 4 a.m. on Friday in his gray Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, according to police. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">James Adelizzi, who lives at the Cypress Creek Mobile Home Park at 901 NE 62 St., in Fort Lauderdale, said he helped to solve a part of the mystery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cAll I saw was headlights shining across the lagoon,\u201d Adelizzi said about his finding on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/25\/body-found-after-missing-boxers-truck-pulled-from-broward-canal\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/25\/body-found-after-missing-boxers-truck-pulled-from-broward-canal\/\">On Sunday<\/a> morning, Adelizzi said he noticed a gate was damaged. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cSomeone had driven through it, knocked it off the hinges, and into the water,\u201d Adelizzi said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/25\/body-found-after-missing-boxers-truck-pulled-from-broward-canal\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/25\/body-found-after-missing-boxers-truck-pulled-from-broward-canal\/\">Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office divers found Scibica<\/a> dead in his gray Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, underwater, according to police. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Scibica\u2019s friends said he did not live in the mobile home park, or why he was in the area.
