Cape Coral City Council\u2019s two-day budget workshop will begin Thursday with a budget kickoff in Council Chambers.<\/p>\n
The winter workshop kicks off the budget season for 2027 giving the public an opportunity to provide input, as well as council members.<\/p>\n
Topics to be discussed on Thursday, Jan. 29, are fund balance, State House changes recap, fire growth model, police master plan and revenue forecast.<\/p>\n
The presentation will begin with an overview of the fiscal year 2026 economy \u2013 3.90% unemployment rate, 2.70% consumer price index and as of 2025 quarter four 2.20% inflation.<\/p>\n
The workshop will include a fiscal year 2027 preview, which includes several points to be decided: What are council\u2019s funding priorities for fiscal year 2027 and beyond, maintaining the current funding profile and future projects.<\/p>\n
The second day, Jan. 30, will include discussions on debt, impact fees, budget adjustments, Stantec model and strategic planning.<\/p>\n
Council also will holds a summer budget workshop where a comprehensive overview and key priorities will be proposed. <\/p>\n
Hearings and the adoption of the budget are held in September. \u00a0<\/p>\n
This week\u2019s workshop meetings will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd. <\/p>\n
The meeting is open to the public.<\/p>\n
