The lessons she is teaching are ones her students can use for years to come.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Susan Fray shows her sixth graders the ways they can stay safe when they are online, saying, \u201cNever give your information out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the research\/critical thinking teacher at <a href=\"https:\/\/legacyms.ocps.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Legacy Middle School<\/a> in Orlando, she enjoys making sure they are prepared. \u201cAs a kid I never got the things that they\u2019re getting to learn now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Fray is teaching skills that are the building blocks for their future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do a lot of social emotional in my class. I want the kids to have an opportunity to feel like they\u2019re valued,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Each student is valued in her classroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo for me it\u2019s giving them an opportunity to grow to be who they want to be and to be supported for what their choices are all the way through,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>For Fray, a teaching career was not her first choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started realizing that no matter what I do I\u2019m teaching. When I was in corporate America, I was still teaching. When I was younger, I was teaching something,\u201d Fray said.<\/p>\n<p>Becoming a teacher in the classroom for Fray was a process. \u201cSo I came in and started teaching through substitute teaching and fell in love with this school and just kept coming in until they hired me,\u201d she explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She says her kids bring her the most joy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey do. Every day!\u201d she expressed. \u201cI\u2019m sorry. Every day.
