The still-expanding Underline<\/a> is an urban haven<\/a> for both people and pets, but now the latter are getting their own special spot on the ten-mile urban park beneath the Metrorail, in partnership with a popular South Florida-based pet product company.<\/p>\n Chewy has announced it will open a dog park<\/a> on The Underline in Coral Gables this week. Opening at 4500 Ponce De Leon Blvd., the Chewy Bark Park is the brand\u2019s first-ever dog park. Among its amenities are designated play areas for small and large dogs, hydration and waste stations, and \u201cagility elements that encourage safe play and socialization.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe park is part of Coral Gables\u2019 ongoing investment in high-quality public spaces and Friends of The Underline\u2019s mission to create safe, welcoming places that bring people and their pets together,\u201d Chewy and The Underline announced in a joint statement. \u201cThe partnership with Chewy helps amplify that impact and reflects Chewy\u2019s commitment to supporting everyday life with pets in Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n The Chewy Bark Park is part of the third and final phase of The Underline\u2019s development, rolling out at sites across Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami. The project is expected to be completed this year. The new development is also of note for the Plantation-based pet brand, which just opened a Chewy Vet Care location in Aventura \u2014 its first in Miami-Dade \u2014 in October.<\/p>\n \u201cAs nearly 60 percent of The Underline visitors are dog owners, the Chewy Bark Park is a natural extension of our mission to connect people, pets, and neighborhoods through community and wellness,\u201d Eulois Cleckley, CEO of Friends of The Underline, said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to open this incredible destination with Chewy, a company deeply rooted in South Florida, to bring new life, activity, and pet-friendly spaces to the Miami community.\u201d<\/p>\n The dog park will open with a grand opening ceremony featuring Chewy\u2019s Chief Brand Officer Orlena Yeung and The Underline\u2019s Chief Executive Officer Eulois Cleckley on Saturday, January 31. Attendees can expect giveaways and a chance for pups to test out the new digs.
